With the Victorian Parliament and Victoria Police refusing to review the program, High Alert is re-launching as a coalition of activists to provide ongoing scrutiny to the use of sniffer dogs and provide accurate information so that people can understand and assert their legal rights.

Teaming up with Students for Sensible Drug Policy Australia and the Be Heard Not Harmed campaign we will be hosting a Know Your Rights Information session followed by a late night party.

Doors open at 6:30pm with a short politics panel from 7pm followed by the Know Your Rights panel featuring legal experts. From 9pm some of Melbourne’s best DJ talent will be keeping the dancefloor going until late.

Come for the knowledge and stay for the party.

3 guest MPs will speak in support of banning the use of sniffer dogs in night life settings and offer insight into the politics of the issue.
David Limbrick MP - Liberal Democrats
Fiona Patten MP - Reason Party
Tim Read MP - Victorian Greens.

Then we’ll hear from the expert panel followed by a Q and A, featuring:
Greg Denham - Former Victorian Police officer, harm reduction worker and drug law reform advocate
Stephanie Tzanetis - Coordinator of Harm Reduction Victoria’s Dancewize program
Kristina - Doogue + George criminal defense lawyers

We are hoping to confirm representatives from Melbourne Activist Legal Support and the Police Accountability Project. The panel will be hosted by Ash Blackwell, one of the founders of High Alert.
